Counsilman-Hunsaker in association with TMP Associates Inc. (TMP) and Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull, Inc. (TYJT) formed a joint venture to provide architectural and engineering services to the Detroit Public Schools for the design of their new state-of-the-art Cass Technical High School. The six-story, 402,848 SF academic institution consists of two wings: the academic and non-academic.
The academic wing includes classrooms, laboratories, a high-tech media center, and faculty and administrative office space. The four level non-academic wing contains a gymnasium, theater, and swimming pool.
Counsilman-Hunsaker was the lead designer of the 25-yard by 25-meter competition pool, which includes two one-meter diving boards and waterpolo.
