Counsilman-Hunsaker, in association with TMP Associates Inc. and Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull, Inc., formed a joint venture to provide architectural and engineering services to the Detroit Public Schools for the design of the new state-of-the-art Cass Technical High School. The new six story 402,848 sq. ft. institution consists of two wings: academic and nonacademic. The academic wing includes classrooms, laboratories, a high-tech media center, and faculty and administrative office space. The four level nonacademic wing contains a gymnasium, theater, and swimming pool. Counsilman-Hunsaker was the lead designer of the 25-yard by 25-meter competition pool, which includes two 1-meter diving boards. This is an excellent pool for lap swimming, recreational swimming, exercise classes, swim meets and other activities.
